Kearney Mansion Museum
The history of our region is often attached to a place – a building, a park, a streetscape. Places not only help make history, they help us remember it. Kearney Mansion is one of those places. It was home to one of California’s premier agribusiness pioneers, M. Theo Kearney. His legacy includes establishment of the Central Valley’s colony farm system and the bequest of his Fruit Vale Estate to the University of California for agricultural research purposes. Kearney’s most lasting contribution to our region was his vision and leadership in the early development of the California raisin industry. Kearney is a singular example of the visionary men and women who built the American West through the force of their own ambition and determination. He became the “Raisin King” and helped shape a significant part of California’s agricultural history.
